Born in Peru and based in San Francisco, California, Nico Vera is the food writer and chef for Pisco Trail where he specializes in Peruvian cuisine and Pisco mixology.

When he is not cooking a Peruvian pop-up dinner, or making Pisco cocktails, he loves to run long distances and participate in ultra marathons that test his patience, endurance, and determination. This blog is a collection of stories, race reports, and adventures on the trails of Northern California and beyond.

Inspired by his Inca ancestors, the Chasqui runners of Peru, he runs with the intention of connecting with Pachamama (Mother Earth), being present in his body, building community, and meditating on this mantra:

There is no trail, the path is made as you run.
